Do you wait every morning for the
newspaper, so that you can solve the sudoku puzzle? The number
placement puzzle provides your brain the fuel to deal with rest of
the day. I would say that solving sudoku can make you feel great, if
you are able to complete the puzzle, but when you are stuck
somewhere, then its very frustrating. Here,
I have mentioned some tips that would prove helpful for you to solve
sudoku puzzle easily.
Sudoku Rules
I would say
there is only one rule to play this puzzle. Each row, each column,
and each 3x3 sub-grid should contain the digits 1 to 9. No row,
column or grid should have any number more than once. This rule is
mentioned considering the regular 9x9 grid puzzle. For more such tips

Strategy
There are basic
three things that you need to keep in mind
- Scanning
This is a vital
step that you need to perform. Keep scanning the puzzle for the
missing number while solving the puzzle. When you start solving the
puzzle, you would quickly glance through it and fill up the missing
number after analyzing the number in the adjacent rows and columns.
Once the puzzle starts to get a bit difficult to solve, then you stop
scanning. You need to make sure you keep scanning the puzzle after
every one or two new entries.
- Marking
When solving
medium or hard level puzzle, there would be a point, where you would
get stuck and no further scanning would be possible. Here, you need
to analyze a bit and start marking the approx option. You can either
use dots or subscript numbers to mark the missing numbers. When the
print of the puzzle is large, it is advisable to use subscripts. It
is difficult to use them in regular size print, hence one can use
dots. A dot in the left hand side corner means 1 and a dot in the
right hand side corner means 9.
- Analyzing
- In the elimination strategy, the candidate numbers are eliminated, which finally leads to only one choice. After every number is filled in the puzzle a scan must be done of the entire puzzle.
- The what-if strategy is based on guess. The 3x3 sub-grid that contains minimum numbers is selected and the numbers are filled based on the analysis of other sub-grids. During the process of solving the other girds, columns, and rows, if the number in this sub-grid is found to be double, then it needs to erased and logical number should be placed.
